The Cage Bed of Dreams began as a series of academic seminars on the work of Hélio Oiticica and evolved into a collective installation. These meetings initially took the form of an academic forum, but evolved into a more experimental group format led by me, which allowed me to integrate collaborative methodologies into my theoretical research. This approach informed the creation of the installation itself, functioning as an artistic research methodology.
Drawing on Oiticica’s concepts from Cães de Caça, the project focused on the foundational idea of the Barracão. We considered this concept a turning point, as it marked the expansion of his collaborative experiments, eventually leading to the Cosmococa series.
The Cage Bed of Dreams explored the interplay of context, collaboration, and participation, fundamentally recognizing the body and lived experience as central to knowledge creation. The installation aimed to foster shared theoretical investigations, link my individual practice with those of its co-creators and the public, and connect with Oiticica's notions of co-existence, co-creation, and creative leisure.
